Art as a Language for Grief
Sometimes what we carry is too large for words. Art can hold it differently.
Why I Recommend Art-Based Tools
Grief doesn't move in a straight line, and it doesn't always respond to language. In my work with clients navigating loss — of a person, a relationship, a version of themselves — I've found that art can reach places that conversation alone sometimes can't.
That's why I recommend Because Art Heals to clients who are ready for something to hold between sessions. Their Art of Grief Card Deck pairs 52 museum-quality artworks with carefully written reflections — not to fix grief, but to give it somewhere to go.
This isn't a replacement for therapy. It's a companion to it.

How I Use These in Practice
I sometimes suggest a client draw a card at the start of a difficult week — not to analyze it, but simply to sit with it. The image becomes a kind of companion.
In session, a card can open a conversation that might otherwise take much longer to find its way in. Art bypasses the part of us that wants to explain, and goes straight to what we feel.
Between sessions, the deck offers a quiet ritual — a moment of reflection that keeps the work alive without requiring words.
